Throughout December I am Kickin’ It Old Skool with Jamie Ridler, Shannon Ridler, and a whole group of other creative bloggers. We’re bringing back the days when blogging was fun and not just another chore on the social media frontier. Join in any time! The more the merrier.
Today we are capturing this moment in time with a time capsule of sorts. Jamie and Shannon have asked the following...
What are you reading?
I am reading two wonderful books that just happen to both be about the feminine experience, but in different ways: The Red Tent, by Anita Diamont (a novel) and The Rainbow Way: Cultivating Creativity in the Midst of Motherhood by Lucy H. Pearce (non-fiction). What I should be reading is Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri because that is this month's book club pick and we meet next week. I better get started.
What are you watching?
My husband and I got caught up through the season finale of Covert Affairs during the long holiday weekend. But the big show for me and my toddler at the moment is Sarah & Duck (quack!). We watch it every day.
What are you listening to?
I am completely in love with the song Sweet Little Dreams by Jeppe Riddervold and Allie Feder. After hearing it in a commercial for Lego Duplos, I bought it and now find myself playing it quite often. It's so upbeat and happy. Also, at the request of my toddler I've played 2Cellos' rendition of Smooth Criminal many times in the past month.
What are you loving?
This is too hard to answer. There's so much! Aside from the already mentioned books, shows, and songs, I am loving the little sentences my toddler is speaking, the way my husband looks at me, my stepson's smile, my new Oracle cards (The Mother's Wisdom Deck), my new car (which is so smooth and quiet compared to my 11-year-old previous car- which I also loved), that Christmas is coming, that I can shop for gifts from the comfort of my jammies on the interwebs...
What are you wearing?
With the weather getting crisp and cold, I'm all about softy-soft clothes. Right now I'm wearing cotton pants (not quite sweat pants, not quite yoga pants), a thin sweatshirt, comfy socks, and slippers. As you might have gathered, I currently have no intentions of leaving the house.
What are you creating?
Blog posts, web content (hint: new stuff coming to Live Wonderstruck later this month!), a proposal for a series of articles, space, intentions.
What are you looking forward to?
Christmas decorations, writing, dreaming and scheming for the coming year, artwork from the very first graphic designer I've ever hired, chocolate cake leftover from Thanksgiving, a family art space (my husband and I are working on that).
In answering these questions, I realize once again just how good life can be. What would you list in your time capsule?
