Each Wednesday is Wonderstruck Interview day. Hearing other people’s stories is a great way to see things from a different perspective and perhaps find something new to apply to our own lives.
Brandi Reynolds is our interviewee this week. Brandi is a yoga instructor and photographer, a rescued dog mama, a traveler, a soul diver. I've been blessed to know Brandi through the blogosphere for a few years now. She has a remarkable energy and light spirit that always put a smile on my face.
What have you been wonderstruck by recently?
My yoga students. They are beautiful and strong and they don't even realize it. My photography clients. Their eyes make my photos come alive and they don't see it.
Honestly, I am wonderstruck by a lot in this world and sadly, I see most people dismissing their own wonder. I feel it's my mission to help them see it.
What part of your day are you grateful for?
I'm grateful for a lot of my life but there are few moments that stick out. When I first wake up in the morning and my dog, shiloh, sticks his big galoot head in my face and licks me. I don't think I've woken up in a bad mood since we rescued that dog...lol.
That moment at lunch when I step outside my office for my (mostly) daily lunch time walk. There is a ring of trees that surround the parking lot at my office and the minute I get under them, I feel at peace.
What part of your day is tough? How do you move through it?
Well...what's tough right now is not something I can really share on the internet. It's not something huge and traumatic or related to my marriage or friendships-just not something appropriate to share at the moment. But it is tough and let's just say I'm in a situation where I know I don't fit in and moving into a different situation is not that easy.
How do I move through it? I take those lunchtime walks, I grin at my ridiculous dog, I laugh with my husband, I give myself permission to be frustrated when it is warranted and I focus on my blessings. Sorry, no earth shattering advice. But then I find that the answers to life are rarely earth shattering. We live in moments, we learn in steps. The answer to life is not to expect the big boom, but to find the miracle in the tiny movements.
What do you wish your were more conscious of?
Ha! I'm not good at BS'ing-even myself. I'm a fairly sensitive and empathetic person and really in tune with my body, my emotions and the feelings of those around me. If anything, there are times when I wish I could turn off the consciousness as it can get overwhelming if I'm not careful.
How do you stay focused on what is truly important to you?
I don't know. Wow...my answers are not very inspiring are they?? LOL. I just keep asking myself what is important to me and make small, constant course corrections towards those things.
